Get Search Traffic! Use Netscape for Parasite Hosting

October 26th, 2006 by Stefan Juhl

Are you having problems with the “sandbox” and getting “trusted links”..? There’s a much easier way to get the search traffic from Google than getting a new website ranking well. What you need to do is use “parasite hosting” - a well known term among black hats - but the technique I’m about to explain, I’d say is only a bit “grey hat”.

The bigger picture

The main problem in obtaining good rankings for a new website is the “age and linkage” factor, commonly referred to as the “sandbox”. To get good rankings you need a trusted domain. A brand new domain with none to few inbound links is just not enough. The common way to solve this problem is by a lot of work on link building to earn Google’s trust. But it’s often very time consuming and expensive.

So why am I telling this when you probably already know it? Well, I want you to get the bigger picture of this. Because the parasite hosting technique can be used on many other sites than just Netscape. All there is to the technique is having a page which will pass on the traffic to your website, and having this page hosted on a “trusted domain”. So really, any aged website with lots of links will do - and some better than other - which is why I’ve picked Netscape for this example.

The actual technique

In short: Get your URL listed as a story on Netscape. Use your desired keyword in the story title and summary. Link to the story with the keyword.

Preparations:

  1. Pick a URL on your website where you want the traffic.
  2. Pick the keyword you want the search traffic from.
  3. Write a compelling headline - with the keyword in it.
  4. Write a very short summary of your page - include the keyword.
  5. Write a couple of positive comments about your page - include the keyword.

Note: Don’t pick a too competitive terms (like ‘ringtones’, ‘mortgages’ etc.) or you probably won’t get rankings.

Getting listed:

  1. Submit the “story” using the URL, headline and summary.
  2. Have some “friends” add the positive comments (without voting!).

Note: Our aim is not to get the story on the front page, so 1 vote is fine. We don’t want the page to be seen - we just want it indexed by Google.

Link to it:

  1. Link to the story from various sites you own.
  2. Buy some of those cheap $5-7 links offered on forums like DP, SP etc.
  3. Pay bloggers to include a link to the story.
  4. And any other way you can get links to it…

Note: Use various anchor texts for the links but include the keyword.

Done!

Within short time the Netscape story should begin to rank in Google - unless you picked an über-competitive keyword…

Remember to get around this carefully. If you do it too much for one site or with one account, you might end-up getting banned from Netscape. You should do it so it looks as legit as possible so they don’t notice your real agenda!

Also, try this out on other sites where you’re somehow able to get a “page dedicated to your URL/story”. The options are many. Just pick old sites with high pagerank (PR7+) and there’s a big chance they’ll be trusted to some degree.
