Offline for 9 days because of my stupid ISP: TDC
February 22nd, 2007 by Stefan JuhlYesterday I finally got an internet connection again. I moved to another place Monday last week and prior to moving I had called my stupid ISP: TDC so they’d transfer my DSL connection on that same day. Well, as one could expect, that didn’t happen.
When I called them to complain about not being connected they told me that the connection was still at my old address and there was no transfer in their system. Then since I didn’t have anything in writing, and that the supporter I had talked to wasn’t there that day, they couldn’t didn’t want to do anything to speed up the process. So I’d have to wait for 9 days before the connection could be transfered.
I’ve struggled with TDC as my ISP before and therefore didn’t feel like spending a lot of time in an attempt to speed it up. I’m sure it wouldn’t make much difference if I did so.
At first, not having an internet connection sucked big time since I had planned to work - as always… But I managed to get a lot of other stuff done in those days. And when I felt like having abandoned my email etc. for too long I managed to find other ways to check it…
Now I’m back online and almost through everything that has come up during my time offline. I’ll try to catch up with some useful blog posts in the coming days.

Next time just plug the phone line directly in to that socket in the back of your head. Sometimes you have to pull the hair out of the way to get it to work.
Hope you enjoy the new place.

I spent almost 20 days off line after moving because I had to wait for three different companies to be bothered to sort themselves out (telecoms in the UK is a mess).
On an aside TDC is the abbr for one of the councils of the UK shortlisted for the none-honour of worst council in Britian (Thanet District Council). Maybe that letter combo is cursed?
